Planning a proposal in Brisbane and not sure where to do it? We've been lighting up proposals across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast for years so have the inside scoop on where are the best proposal locations. Here are our best places to propose in Brisbane:
1. Apartment or private suite at a hotel
About 80% of the proposals that we set up for are in an apartment or private suite at a hotel and here's why:
It's affordable and easy to book.
You don't need a wet-weather contingency plan.
It's a private, intimate space.
You can have everything set up in advance so all you need to do is turn up.
Our top tips for planning a private suite proposal? Get your timings and logistics planned out from the beginning - when do you arrive? When does she arrive? Do you have suppliers needing access to the room? Does the hotel know what is happening? Will there be anyone else there to help with the set up?
The most popular private suites for proposals in Brisbane are: W Hotel, Emporium Hotel, Meriton Suites, and Stamford Plaza.
2. Function space at a venue
Booking an actual function space at a venue is a great option if budget isn't an issue. You can then have everything pre-arranged to be ready for when you arrive so there is a big surprise 'reveal' moment. Some restaurants have private dining rooms which are also a great option.
The most popular function spaces for proposals are: W Hotel Brisbane, Crystalbrook Vincent, Rhapsody Gold Coast, Imperial Hotel Gold Coast, Peppers Soul, or Sheraton Gold Coast.
3. Outdoors in a public park
There are a few beautiful parks in Brisbane to propose including: Captain Burke Park (under the fairy light tree under Story Bridge), Mt Coot-tha lookout, or New Farm Park.
When planning an outdoor proposal we always recommend:
Having a wet-weather contingency plan e.g. make sure there is a nearby rotunda or sheltered area in the park
Checking power access. Usually you will need to also hire a generator if you plan on having a light up proposal display.
Ensuring there is vehicle access for proposal backdrop deliveries
4. At home or a private residence
At the end of the day a good proposal is a done proposal so don't overcomplicate it!
If it is easier to have something set up at home or say, set up at a parent or friends house, then that's also a great option too. You don't have to spend the earth to make it a special moment it genuinely is the thought that counts.
We would recommend planning your set up for a particular time of day when they won't be home so maybe they are at work, out with friends (pro tip: get the friends on board as well so they can let you know when they're on the way back home), or having a spa day.
Also, if you want to reduce your stress significantly then give yourself a decent amount of time so that there is no risk of them coming home early.
