Decor Ideas to Elevate Your 2026 Christmas Party

Planning this year's Christmas party? The ideas below come from real setups we've installed for offices, venues and teams across Melbourne and Brisbane. Every price includes delivery, setup and pack-down, and you can book online in a few minutes. For the full range and prices, see our Christmas hire page.

A strong Christmas setup isn't about headcount or room size. A 12-person office can book the same feature wall as a 300-guest ballroom. What matters is the mood you want and what you want people to photograph. We plan every setup around three things: atmosphere, lighting and photos.

1. Atmosphere

Subtle or bold?

Decide first whether the night is understated or loud. Light up letters work either way, depending on where you put them and what they spell.

A single "XMAS" glowing in the background adds warmth to a dinner or a smaller room without taking over. For a bigger statement, put "MERRY CHRISTMAS" in mixed 60cm and 1.2m letters in front of an XL shimmer wall, flower wall or mixed wall. The larger backdrops give a room real presence and fit a full-team photo.

Pick A Theme

A theme gives guests something to dress for and gives you a clear direction for the styling. Gatsby, Hollywood and black-and-white are popular, and so are less expected choices like a country western night with "HOWDY" in lights. Spell out the theme in letters and you have your photo spot sorted.

Balloon arches and columns in the theme's colours, or your brand's, carry the look through the rest of the room.

2. Lighting

Bring In The Christmas Lights

Light up letters and numbers bring the glow of Christmas lights into any venue, whether they're on stage, part of a photo backdrop or standing on their own. Your company name in 1.2m letters is the most requested Christmas setup for corporate parties. In a darker room, add uplights to wash the walls or the backdrop in colour.

Add Colour

Every letter comes with a remote that changes the bulb colour, so you can run warm white for dinner and switch to red, green or gold for the dance floor. To build out a colour scheme, pair the letters with a shimmer wall, a faux floral backdrop or balloons. Balloon garlands are $350 per 3m section, all-inclusive with delivery and setup, in preset combinations such as white and gold or in custom colours. We also do balloon arches, columns and helium balloons in Christmas or brand colours.

3. Photos

Set Aside a Photo Spot

Give photos a dedicated space. A shimmer wall, flower wall or arch backdrop near the entrance catches everyone on arrival, while outfits are still fresh. Arch backdrops can carry custom vinyl signage with your message. If you have a photographer, put them there. To turn the entrance into a red-carpet arrival, add a red carpet runner with bollards.

GTFO is that a new Christmas themed neon sign backdrop?? I think it is! Brand new to our range this year our Merry Christmas neon sign which comes with a remote to change to any colour

Lighting Makes Better Photos

Dim function rooms produce dark, grainy photos. Light up letters and neon signs add light right where people stand, so photos come out clear even late in the night.

Put Your Brand in The Photos

Your company name in lights celebrates the year and puts your brand in every photo your team posts. The most booked corporate setup for 2026 is a shimmer wall with a balloon garland and a custom acrylic disk. Disks come in 60cm or 70cm with your logo, brand or wording such as "CHRISTMAS 2026", from $110. Real estate and property offices, mining firms, law firms and consultancies book it every December.
